“So, that’s what you look like.”
I felt that was the most significant line (that I’ve heard in a long time) and it properly encompasses the entire episode.
Don’t you agree?

Though the quote was shared between Grand Aunt Mei and George, we’re reminded...
of what Nancy is really like, someone who is stronger than she think, believes in justice and protecting what’s right and has carried the guilt of bearing burdens beyond her control,
Nick, who’s come leaps and bounds and constantly is an amazing beacon who advocates in good too (Tunji Kasim deserves an award for his acting - he’s been unparalleled in these episodes)
Ryan, who wants to redeem himself (the Hudson Outreach Fund for youths at risk, that’s exactly what should be happening!),
Tamura wants to start an incredibly tough journey to eradicate racism (unfortunately with all the cast there, it was obvious who had to be zapped),
and George, who had a reminder of the good she’s done (we all need affirmation like that, don’t we?)
But then we have those responsible for Dolores’ tragic, tragic death.
Okay that was horribly vague. I apologise for the spoilers, but I can’t not talk about the significance of solving a mystery about a real wrong done to a good person.
We see who we are on the inside when the worst happens.
It was the an incredibly significant episode.
“Because we are always terrified.” — Nick
A cop, a politician (maybe), a reporter, a mother. Isn’t it always easy to paint the picture of yourself as the good guy?
“I don’t deserve this. I’m a good person. I’m a mum.”
“This is the case that made me quit the force ... Resources were stretched too thin [to handle 2 missing persons cases]. I hated that, so I went into policy.”
The writing was brilliant this whole episode; what annoyed me was how people do get away with all the bigoted responses they make.
I always pose this question, why is it okay for people to say egotistical, apathetic, racist, gender stereotypical remarks and get away with it?
Children are scolded for it, but adults get away with it.
There’s only some solace. People do see what you look like (on the inside) 😌
bonus
Carson being dad of the year! as usual 💁🏻♀️ he wants to scale the police station and ‘asks’ if her best friends can help her, but “it was really a statement”. Too cute.
Ace in those reading glasses 😆
and who thinks Tamura is going to join forces with Nick and Ryan in some way?
I firmly believe in 5 out of 5 bright sparkly stars for this episode ✨
Praise for the writers Andrea Thornton Bolden & Lisa Bao
Not to say I didn’t love S2E10 The Spell of the Burning Bride & S2E11 The Scourge of the Forgotten Rune. Made me smile when I really needed it and it’ll obviously do the same for you.
side bar:
Also, for those who haven’t grown up in Asian society, Asian parents are next level critical. So whatever Grand Aunt Mei was saying it’s incredibly easily to empathise with George. In the best way, it comes from love.
I may never truly know the fear of the Asians living overseas in these times, those who are being harassed, humiliated, terrified, assaulted (from Nancy), hurt, stigmatised, embarrassed and ridiculed for being of colour, but being an Asian, I hope they know I’m with them. I wish I could physically stand with them. You’re not alone.
